Dr. Jacobson is a native of Santa Barbara, CA., and received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine as a Regents Scholar and was awarded membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He then completed six years of general and Orthopedic surgery training at Duke University Medical Center, followed by additional fellowship training in shoulder and knee surgery at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach.
Dr. Jacobson's practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the shoulder and knee. He has become a regional leader in adult shoulder reconstructive surgery. This interest takes him around the country lecturing and demonstrating surgical techniques to other orthopedic surgeons. In 2005 he was included in a group of 15 leading U.S. shoulder surgeons which created a national database for outcomes of shoulder replacement surgery. The goal of this research is to learn more about the long term results of shoulder replacement surgery in order to improve future outcomes.
Together with his sports medicine colleagues at The Center, Dr. Jacobson remains actively involved with the treatment of Central Oregon athletes. Advanced arthroscopic techniques are employed in the treatment of shoulder and knee disorders.
Dr. Jacobson is a lifelong sports enthusiast, enjoying skiing, strength training, yoga and learning to snowboard. He is an instrument rated pilot and a below average pianist.
